The Democratic Party of Virginia works to elect Democratic leaders who are committed to delivering results for Virginia families and strives to encourage the full participation of all Virginians in choosing their elected officials. We believe Virginians should control their political destiny and ensure they are equally and fairly represented.

Over the past decade, the DPVA has been on the frontlines fighting to turn Virginia from solid red to Democratic blue by providing crucial, game-changing support that helps Democratic candidates win.

From recruiting candidates to providing staff and volunteers, running Voter Protection programs or coordinating with major national organizations, the DPVA gives campaigns the resources and exposure they need to be victorious. During the 2017 election cycle, DPVA staff and volunteers knocked on over 4.5 million doors and contacted over 921,000 voters which contributed to flipping 15 House seats, Virginia’s largest electoral shift since 1899. In 2018, we knocked on over 2.7 million doors, spoke with over 632,000 voters, and sent over 1.9 million text messages in support of candidates. These efforts lead to the re-election of Senator Tim Kaine and the election of three first time Congresswomen, Elaine Luria, Abigail Spanberger, and Jennifer Wexton. In Congress, they join Bobby Scott, Donald McEachin, Don Beyer, and Gerry Connolly, along with our Senior Senator Mark Warner,  making our Congressional Delegation a Democratic majority once again. Over the course of these two elections, the DPVA hired over 300+ field organizers and sent out hundreds of emails and social media posts to help Democratic candidates get across the finish line.
